Pont L’Abbé d’Arnoult is a pretty, Saintongeais village situated between Rochefort, Saintes and Marennes. The valley of the Arnoult and the marshlands close by are ideal for peaceful walks even in summer.
Just a few kilometres away one can find the citadel at Brouage, the basin at Marennes and Ile d’Oléron, Romanesque churches scattered through the countryside, the amphi-theatre at Saintes and the dry dock at Rochefort where a full sized replica of the 18th century frigate ‘Hermione’ is being constructed.
Journey a little further and you reach the port of La Rochelle and Ile de Ré, or discover Cognac country and the beaches of the Côte Sauvage ,just north of Royan.
